Seven things NOT to do when designing your logo!

We all love a good design and of course, a designed logo, but sometimes it may look good, but does it really relate to your brand?

This blog is the third in the series.

T
here is always something or even some things that are overlooked when it comes to design and even colours. So, I want to share seven extremely important things NOT TO DO when it comes to creating your logo!

1) Never underestimate where you're going to use your logo!

Sometimes a small sized logo isn't the way to go because you may want the image to be displayed on a big board or a huge visual screen or even T.V.

2) Don't rush, choose your colours carefully!

Do they relate to your brand? Colours tell us their story and have a meaning.
Ask yourself, do you really want a Christmas coloured logo when it has nothing to do with the season, let alone your brand's message?

3)  Never forget the colours you use.

There's nothing quite like picking a super fabulous colour and then forgetting how you achieved it and where you got it from.

4) Don't use idolised colours!

Some pantone colours are protected as a registered trademark. Here's an example, Cadbury's own their purple as does the 'late' Prince. So, using such colours could land you in hot 'lawsuit' water.

5) It's best not to over-complicate your logo
Simplicity is key!

6) Never settle for it's 'okay'.

Remember, this is your logo, it's representing you and your brand for years to come. Is 'okay' really okay with you?

7) Don't replicate someone else's logo
Again, it's okay to gain ideas from various logo designs, but copying a famous logo is a massive 'no no'. Why? The logo could be ready for trademarking or already be a registered trademark and recognised all over the world. You will be found.
